ITEA 2  Research Project Open Source AMbient Intelligence Commons

Project Summary

  • The OSAmI Commons project aims to deliver an open source platform build on top of OSGi specification. This platform enables easy and efficient interoperability of different devices by utilizing service oriented architecture.
  • Focus of the German consortium is the health care sector, in particular cardiologic rehabilitation of patients at home after surgery in the clinic. This is supported by two gateways for secure interaction between the patient and the supervisor in the clinic during training sessions and seamless integration and communication of various devices including the ergometer and various sensors. Usage and operation of the system overall is facilitated by an easy-to-use user interface.

Research Topics at German National Level

  • allowing non-expert users to deal with highly-complex device and sensor environments
  • automated service and device management with small-sized footprint
  • exploration of 6LowPan for usage in device abstraction
  • novel approach for implementing OSGi Remote Services by means of DPWS
  • integrated multi-parameter sensor device
