Introduction
Betavine is a Vodafone Group R&D initiative to create and support an open community of mobile application developers. From that point of view, the provisioning of mobile network enablers (SMS, etc.) is crucial to Betavine in order to provide an attractive, complete and differentiate service to the developer’s community. The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is one of the most powerful mobile enablers that Betavine can offer to its developer community now, because the IMS gives operators, service providers and developers the ability to create new services using standard session initiation protocol (SIP) routing. For that reason, in spite of its not full deployment, it is so important to start providing IMS enabling services to the open community in order to attract the best developers to Betavine.
The current document is outlining the Betavine requirements for such integration. From the Betavine point of view, IMS is a very special enabler, because doesn’t require too much involvement from the Betavine framework. Additionally, the main bottleneck is not the IMS infrastructure itself but the SIP Stack for the mobiles. The foreseen data for a total integration is December 08.
