Basic rules for contributors

The Wiki for open technologies is an Internet site where you can find technical information and discuss projects and ideas. This is the place for projects ideas and new theories. Don't try to improve other projects but contribute to the common world knowledge.

The information in articles has to be written in your own words. Do not submit copyright material. Take into account that all information in the Internet is copyright or has conditions which it is necessary to know in depth.

The title of an article should be the most common one for the concept being dealt with. Descriptive titles are most easily understandable

Make it simple and link your article to other ones that complement your information. Technical articles, howtos and projects are complementary and links between them allow us to avoid having the same information twice.

Citing sources is a way of recognition of other people's work. Besides which sources will help other contributors to improve the article and for readers to find more information. Using links throughout or a “References” section at the end of the article are the the right ways to make references to such sources

  • URL format is recognized by the system but it is advisable to use Mediawiki formats.

Categories are the bases upon which the wiki content is organized. The Wiki for open technologies is organized in portals and categories. Portals in fact are categories too. Your article will be placed as part of this accumulated technical information so its location in the wiki will depend on the article's category. A tool at the bottom of an editing article will facilitate you in choosing the categories and to create new ones. Please choose those of them which fit best with the content of your article.

Registration is not mandatory. It is easier to carry on conversations with registered users. New articles and modification are of more value when there is an acknowledged contributor behind them and discussion about them is possible. Editors increase their personal prestige when contributing to world knowledge.

We are supposed to work in an ethical way. Other contributors are working in the same way so you should collaborate to improve the information having respect for other contributors. Bear in mind that all of us are contributing to open knowledge available to every one throughout the world.
